"Durchs Höllentor ins Paradies" tells the story of the Kunsthaus Zürich, from its opening in 1910 to the present day. Countless exciting, sometimes dramatic, sometimes amusing, and bizarre episodes have shaped the history of the Kunsthaus. This includes repeatedly public, socio-political controversies, such as the controversy surrounding the establishment of the Zurich Giacometti Foundation in the 1960s or the current debate on the Emil G. Bührle collection. Legendary exhibitions have contributed to the international reputation of the house, including, among others, the world's first museum exhibition of Picasso in 1932.

«Durchs Höllentor ins Paradies» erzählt die Geschichte des Kunsthaus Zürich, von seiner Eröffnung 1910 bis heute. Zahllose spannende, teils dramatische, teils amüsante und skurrile Episoden prägen die Geschichte des Kunsthauses. Darunter immer wieder öffentlich geführte, gesellschaftspolitische Auseinandersetzungen, wie die Kontroverse um die Gründung der Zürcher Giacometti-Stiftung in den 1960-er Jahren oder aktuell die Debatte um die Sammlung von Emil G. Bührle. Zum internationalen Ruf des Hauses haben legendäre Ausstellungen beigetragen, so u.a. 1932 die weltweit erste Museumsausstellung von Picasso.
